Welcome to Orange Class!

Welcome back!

Hello, and welcome to Orange Class.

We have a very busy year ahead, and the children have made a fantastic start.

The adults in Orange Class this year are:

Mrs Watts – Class Teacher

Mrs Mellor – HLTA

Mrs Bull – TA

Our PE lessons are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays – please ensure children have PE kits in school at all times.

 

Orange Class Homework

Weekly

The basic homework requirements will remain the same each week, with occasional extra tasks.

Maths:

  • Times Tables Rock Stars – Garage – play 21 mins per week – 3 minutes a day is best! You can check your minutes and progress yourself on STATS.
  • The time you have spent on this will be checked weekly.

Writing & Spellings

  • Spellings – practise daily – this can be on paper, verbally and also on Spelling Shed.
  • Spelling test: Monday.

Reading:

  • Can you become a Reading Ninja?
  • Read daily with a grown-up. Discuss the text and ask/answer questions.
  • Minimum of 3 recorded reading sessions at home each week.

Times Tables:

The more you practise, the better you will get!

We will have a focus times-table most weeks.

This is super important - all children are expected to have quick recall of all times tables to 12 x 12 by the end of year 4. The more they can practise at home the better.  TT Rockstar Login will be placed in their reading record.

 Homework/Reading club will be held at lunch-times for children who do not complete tasks at home.

We are very lucky in Year 4 as we have Mrs Thomas from Oldham Music Service delivering weekly clarinet lessons to the whole class – a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn to play a musical instrument from a professional! These lessons will be held on Wednesdays.
